| 156675 | 2003-07-01 09:02:00 | Problem 1: When installing programs all the time it becomes a pain in the neck when windows always defaults back to C:\Program Files\ How can I change it so whenever an installer is run, it immediately points to D:\Programs\ instead of C:\Program Files\ Problem 2: I'm getting this weird error in the system event log manager, how can I fix it?? -------------------- DCOM got error "The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. " attempting to start the service ImapiService with arguments "-Service" in order to run the server: {520CCA63-51A5-11D3-9144-00104BA11C5E} For more information, see Help and Support Center at go.microsoft.com ------------------- |

| 156676 | 2003-07-01 09:13:00 | Re: Problem 1 Similar issue for me, I use D:\Program Files for anything that but refuses to be moved from C:\Program Files (eg, programs that give you no option), but I just take it as a matter of fact and leave it. It might be in the registry somewhere, though. Or try using TweakUI to change (this is from memory) the system folder of Program Files to D: (I think it's under the My Computer section in the XP version). Re: Problem 2 Well, as the report says, it is either disabled or there is no such device that needs that service... something like that. Open Computer Management (right click on My Computer and select 'Manage'), and head to titled Services and Applications -> Services. If you can see a service in the list titled 'ImapiService' or simply starting with "Imapi", check to see if it's status is set to disabled. If it is, double click on it and under 'Startup type' select Automatic. Reboot and see if you still get the error. Otherwise, as it says, it is looking for a device that is not present. The only service I have that starts with "Imapi" is "IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service". |

I hope that makes some sense :) |
