Hi all. We have a P4 2.6ghz Northwood HT and i have noticed it now sits on 50% even when windows has jsut started and nothing is running. I have gone though task manager and looked at all the processes going on and there are all the normal ones. Only a day ago I looked at the CPU usage and it was 0~4 (while running win amp). Any ideas? |

I have just been looking at the history of the CPU usage and it jumps around alot.... stays at 40~50% for 3-4 seconds then down to 3% for a second and back up again (over and over). BTW, we are using Windows XP SP1 |

You may have boot optimiser on or system restore , possibly a anti virus or possibly spyware run spybot just in case |

Get rid of Indexing and/or Fast Find (or Find Fast, whatever it is). |

No virus on the computer, used Ad - Aware and cleaned everything up. That seems to have fixed it.... :| But thanks people. |

If you have a program called RPCSS.exe then that may be the cause related to Distributed .com
I have just removed mine using startman from 98SE |
