You're not supposed to be backwards, anyway, so life is going to be difficult for us oldies who think that obsolesence is not a good reason for junking something if it still works.

156549 2003-07-02 11:31:00 What about Acrobat 5? I've got Acrobat 5 (not Acrobat Reader 5)installed; do I have to uninstall first before installing Acrobat Reader 6? bk T (215)

Nope
I have Acrobat 5 and Adobe Reader 6 and both run well.

156551 2003-07-02 23:25:00 You would NOT want to remove Acrobat 5, because you create PDF's with it, rather than just read, so yes, I agree with keeping it :-) Chilling_Silently (228)
156552 2003-07-03 04:49:00 Running Win XP Home Edition. Had Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.1 installed. Have just installed Adobe Reader 6.0, had same problem that there were no instructions to delete 5.1 but deleted 5.1 after installing 6.0 Had no file association problems as the same file AcroRd.exe is used in both versions.
My only grizzle is the 43 Mb for 6.0 against the 15 Mb for 5.1
One other item after deleting 5.1 on opening 6.0 got advised opening a pdf in a browser was disabled, followed the instructions to re enable.
Hope the 43Mb means there is a lot more facilities available.
Re Backward compatability read 6.0 ReadMe file.

Good thing I would say because it seriously slows your PC down when loading the reader within the browser.

156554 2003-07-04 01:53:00 It takes about 7 seconds to open the reader and download a 32 page pdf document. Not a serious problem compared with trying to get onto the browser via Xtra at around the heavy traffic times of 9am, 12noon, 3 and 6 pm. FrankS (257)
