156616 2003-07-01 05:49:00 Hi guys
A friend in Perth has just installed a USB memory flash card/mini hard drive. When he right clicks on a file I get the option to "send to", the floppy and zip drive appear on this menu-how can he get the mini hard drive to appear on this menu as well?

He didn't mention brand or OS. I am sure I read something about adding to that list in PC World once, but can't remember when or where.

156617 2003-07-01 06:03:00 I'm just guessing (cos I can't remember for sure), but if you add a shortcut to the drive in the C:\Windows\Sendto folder, I think it will work.

I'm unsure though...

156618 2003-07-01 06:03:00 Pretty easy to do. Here is the article (pcworld.co.nz). Your friend just needs to make a shortcut from their USB drive under My Computer and then move it to the send to folder. Jen C (20)

Thanks, team.
I'll remail (short for re-email) the link to here.
Cheers.

156620 2003-07-01 08:13:00 With my USB flash drive I find that I get the send to shortcut when the drive is plugged in. This is with Windows XP Pro. -=JM=- (16)

156622 2003-07-01 08:51:00 My USB removable drive usually opens itself when I plug it in. I've never used the Send To menu.

But I know that, yes, you just place a shortcut (while the drive is plugged in, so you don't get a "path not found" error) to the drive in the folder named 'Send To', usually located in your user folder.

Personally, I'd put the shortcut in the All Users\Send To folder - same format for Win 9X as 2000 and XP.
