156524 2003-06-30 23:31:00 Is your modem compatable with winfax?
Sounds like thats where the problem could be eminating from.

156525 2003-06-30 23:34:00 Look at this link (service1.symantec.com) godfather (25)
156526 2003-06-30 23:35:00 it detected it with no problem.....
how do i find out compatability???

156527 2003-06-30 23:53:00 I do not have (or need) Winfax, so I cannot help further, but its not an issue with the detection of the modem, but its ability to actually use the modem for faxing by the sound of it.

Could be something as simple as the CSID containing alpha characters and your modem not allowing them, or a 100 other things.

Suggest that you use Google (as I did to get the above link).
There are others out there with the error so you are not alone.

I am guessing that its an internal Winmodem / PCI Modem?
Not always the most compatable.

156528 2003-07-01 00:23:00 i queried the modem and it was a compatiable one..as it does work...

the exact name of the modem is aztech cnr v.92 modem

and in the modems/communicatons devices properties of winfax, it says

"connection device.....aztech cnr v.92modem"
"port......tapi"

do u reckon that is the problem? or it could be one of the 100 things...

i did a search on google for winfax help and i only get offical websupport which doesnt really help as i cant seem to find it the right way...

156529 2003-07-01 00:23:00 I agree with GF.
I have had mixed success with Winfax and XP. Try different drivers. I tried 3 different ones before I successfully sent my first fax. Can now send faxes roughly about 80% of the time. Receiving is a different story. Try faxing to 0800 108 208 (Telecom faxright).

156530 2003-07-01 01:16:00 My guess is this:

Winfax tried to send a fax, and in doing so asked the modem to configure itself a certain way.

The modem did not like what it was told to do, so told Winfax to "sod off"

Winfax now refuses to co-operate as the modem would not accept its "training" last time.
So, just because Winfax sees the modem, does not mean that the modem will do everything Winfax wants. If you have configured Winfax to do something the modem does not like, the above will happen.

Drivers are also a big part.

156531 2003-07-01 09:39:00 hello,
sorry i didnt get back to u earlier...
i've finally got it working..sending and receiving...
but thats not it..
a new problem arised...

this is what i got back from telecom

"possible document jam..please clear and resend"

and

"faxright was unable to receive an image for analysis, please ensure fax machine;s document feeder is working correctly, document is insterted properly, and resend...equalisation trace shown should be disregarded"

so apparently i am connecting the computer to their fax..its just that nothing is coming out their end...
but i am receiving faxes perfectly..

does anyone know what i should do now?

156532 2003-07-01 10:04:00 What did you send to them exactly?

Its required that you send "something", even a page with just "this is a test" on it.
