156424 2003-06-30 10:01:00 Hey
I am currently using Windows XP.
Recently, when i'm offline, my computer keeps coming up with the dialog of saying "You or a program have requested information from a site" and wants to dial to the internet.
The site it wants to "get information from" varies
such as turbulent.dhs.org, turbulent.homeip.net, turbulent.wox.org, turbulent.ath.cx and a few more, but all have "turbulent" in them
I found from CTRL+ALT+DEL that everytime that it wants to dial to the interent. the file rasautou.exe is running, when i end task it, it disappears but after a while, it comes back and wanting to dail, i tried deleting the file.....but it just comes back
Please Help
Cheers
Tony

156425 2003-06-30 10:10:00 Do you use Adaware, cos if you don't, I would download it, and use that to get rid of the file, or files. supergran (108)
156426 2003-06-30 10:13:00 Yea, i've used ad adware and removed the files it managed to find, but it didn't work.
oh and the rasautou.exe file is in C:/Windows/System32

156427 2003-06-30 10:26:00 It could be the trojan sobig, if its that there is a file winmgm32.exe in your windows directory. Just scan your computer with a scanner. rsnic (3780)

156429 2003-06-30 10:43:00 probably a good idea to give it a scan anyhow rsnic (3780)
156430 2003-06-30 10:46:00 I'm pretty sure that rasautou.exe is actually a Windows program, that controls the dial up, so it would be beneficial to not delete it :o)

156431 2003-06-30 10:48:00 To view the list of names and addresses recorded by AutoDial, type the following command at a command prompt:

rasautou -s

156432 2003-06-30 10:49:00 A file name with "ras" in it almost always refers to Remote Access Services.

I can't help your specific problem but thought you ought to know.
