2003-07-01 22:14:00 | Hi, I have a desktop PC running NT4. During the boot up sequence it stops at "OS Loader V4.01 ....." and goes no further. I have tried doing the Press spacebar NOW to invoke Hardware Profile/Last Known Good menu which also stopped at the same point. Ran ScanDisk which found no problems and know I am basically stuck for what to do. Any help would be much appreciated. Regards Cebe

2003-07-01 22:44:00 | If you boot from the CD (Or off floppies to begin the Install again), NT4 may have a 'repari' option you can use.. Try that :-) | Chilling_Silently (228) | |
2003-07-01 23:11:00 | Insufficient information Did the installation work in the past? Providing the installation previously worked, What software or hardware alterations were done prior to problems? Did any disk maintenance programs run prior to problems? If the installation never worked, What is the size of the partition containing the operating system? What file system is the partition containing the operating system?

2003-07-02 02:42:00 | Hi Merlin Yes installation did work in the past, no alterations were done as far as I'm aware and no maintenance programs were run. I've used a disking checking programme which turned up numerous problems with the disk, so I am now just going to try to recover the data and then make a decision on what to do. Will proably reformat and reload NT and run it for a while to see if it was actually a bad disk or bad sectors. Thanks people for your help. Cebe

2003-07-02 06:00:00 | Lost and Found is/was one of the best data recovery programs for FAT32 All data recovery programs are best used with a minimum of two partitions - best used with a second hard drive with a partition at least twice the size of the original partition for attempted full data recovery. Partition recovery is different to data recovery.
