156870 2003-07-02 06:05:00 I have checked the Calista Web site and it appears they are selling assets. Provided you have your original Calista disks (CD) then you should be able to install on a new system.

I hate it when we get the sort of advert rubbish you supplied though.

Just what is the difference between a "Superfast 60 Gb 7200 rpm Hard drive" and one that isn't "Superfast"

It's just like the other one we get.

"A huge 60GB hard drive!!" What is the difference between that and an ordinary 60GB hard drive? Is the HUGE one bigger?

Just like the "Big 17 Monitor" which is no different to the ordinary "17 Monitor"

Having got this rant out of the way I would say that the new system specs will be plenty for your needs.

156871 2003-07-02 06:09:00 Not to mention the free software they have installed to add value.

Although imo openoffice is pretty sweet and i look foward to the day ms office is wiped out.

But it reminds me of adverts ive seen where internet explorer was listed in the bundled software....

Get 512mb instead, it should be ~$70 more and it will make a difference with windows XP.

> superfast 60 GB 7200rpm hard drive

Its not "superfast" but it will be fine.

What brands is it?

These are all excellent programs, but remember that these are all freely available.

156875 2003-07-02 08:18:00 these are the specs my husband came home with from DSE and the man said it would be just fine, new to market product or system,
he just waltzed in and said i need a computer to run this : callista

samuri 2200xp 17" CRT

oh and was told can buy a serial port thing (serial port card?) to swap from usb to serial ? but thats an added cost.

and as for all the extra stuff mostly wont need all of it, as wont need xp
just needs to run this callista thing fast and email ok, dont plan on useing it for any other reason.

so im not sure what was discussed but it was recomended to us (him).

cant remeber any other questions.

156876 2003-07-02 08:26:00 P.S.

LG CD Rom? i could be wrong but thats how i read it off sheet.

sounds like a samurai LG combination machine.

what does open office mean ?

it also does not say works or word?

i was of the understanding most computers come with one or other ?
or is it that office thing?

156877 2003-07-02 08:32:00 Not all (not many) PCs come with Works or Word.

Open Office is a free suite of programs that are *nearly* compatable with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel etc).

And the specs seem fine, for running Callista the RAM is also OK.
Perhaps they don't realise its mainly for running just the logging system.

LG CD burners are very good quality.
