157337 2003-07-04 01:20:00 Greetings

This is possibly the most isolated case I have encountered myself. I have just installed the upgrade for Warcraft 3: Frozen Throne and much to my demise, the computer systematically restarts after anywhere between 1-2hrs of play.

Upon restarting it will cycle and restart again within the timeframe. (Players of this game will understand that 1-2hrs is not a long time playing :P)

I was wondering if it had anything to do with the installation of an APC a few months ago.

Any assistance appreciated

Cheers!

157338 2003-07-04 01:25:00 Any chance of some basic info on the PC, and operating system?

The crystal ball has fogged over I regret to advise, so can't be much help without knowing just a little more....

157339 2003-07-04 02:47:00 Inadequate cooling of the CPU could lead to restarts... Does your PC suddenly restart or is it only during massive battles, etc?

Are you running XP Pro as well? Are there any other processes / programs you could be running at the same time?

Lo.

157340 2003-07-04 03:21:00 ur problem might be caused by overheating, or cpu not getting enough power. So, my question would be, have you overclocked ur processor??

If you have, try clocking it back down. Or if u want u can try increasing the voltage supplied to ur cpu.

Mind you, I am not responsible to wat ever happens to ur system if u decide to up the voltage ; )

The choice is urs.

157341 2003-07-08 11:25:00 Thanks for your advice peeps .

I am quite sure that it is not a CPU issue although I have opted to have someone look into it .

I will post comp specs shortly .

I think the more likely cause is a conflict with windows XP Pro . If this is the case, any suggestions?

Thanks again!

157342 2003-07-10 12:23:00 two of my friends on windows xp home edition also had the same problem with war3 restarting.

I THINK i got one of them sorted with some kind of win xp bull...of the system restarting instead of blue screen/errors.

i cant remember where this setting was..

157343 2003-07-10 12:38:00 Control Panel - System - Advanced - Startup and Recovery Settings - remove the tick from "restart system"

Then you should get a blue screen with error messages. Write them down EXACTLY as they are displayed and search Google with the key ones (or post back here)
That should enable a cause to be found.
