157311 2003-07-04 00:36:00 Hi everyone.

I am experiencing a conundrum that I hope someone can shed some light on!

At the root of my C:\ drive I am seeing 3 directories (for now) named dir00, dir01 & dir03 (who knows where dir02 went). These contain a variety of folders eg: dir10, dir11, dir12. This carries down for about 4 levels and in the final folder there is a file named file36 or some other equally enigmatic name! These files have no extension.

If I delete the dirs, they will reappear at the next login and multiply while I am not watching.

I am running XP SP1. I have recently installed Nortons 2002 and have only noticed this occurring since that event.

Something of this nature would normally suggest viral or trojan activity but a scan shows nada!

Please help!

157312 2003-07-04 05:16:00 Have you deleted directories ?

This may be Norton Utilities, undelete or unformat folders and files.

157313 2003-07-04 05:21:00 The sound like temp direcotries created as part of an installation that have not been cleaned up when the installation was finished. Do the dates these were created coincide when you installed something? parry (27)
