157180 2003-07-03 07:43:00 Hi there - some of you will be aware I purchased a new digital camera recently (lots of fun). Last night I tried to print some photos - no problem with A4 size photos, but I had some problems with the 6"x4" size photos (using Epson Photopaper - with serrated edges).

I am using Windows 2000, have Office XP, and Photoshop 6. I am using a Canon S750 printer.

My difficulty is getting the photo lined up (? resolution) and what to do about margin setttings. Has anyone got any handy hints re program to use, paper to use, a website that might have some useful tips - and yes, I do know that Robo suggests to use Frogprint.

Many thanks
R.M. :)

157181 2003-07-03 07:55:00 Well I use Photoshop 7, Paintshop Pro, WinXP O/S and Office XP.

I edit photos using Photoshop and/or Paintshop.

I print them using Publisher onto Kodak A4 photopaper.

Publisher is used for printing so I can use ALL of the A4 paper and plant the photos where I like at whatever size I like. I can print 4 reasonable size prints on one A4 sheet.

This works for me!!! :-)

157182 2003-07-03 08:06:00 Thanks - yes I can print successfully with Publisher (and I totally agree about placement and using up all of the A4 page). I was trying to be smart and print my 'own' 6" x 4" prints - but so far, not very successful - due to margins being all wrong.....

:(

157183 2003-07-03 09:26:00 OK... So which application are you trying to use to print?

I guess you are trying to use 6"x4" paper in the printer?

Margins are normally set in the print properties as default but can also be changed in the application as well under Page setup.

157184 2003-07-03 11:24:00 Hi R.M. I note you have a Canon printer. By any chance did any printing software come with it?

I have the Canon i320 printer. It came with the "Easy-PhotoPrint" software. It makes a superb job of printing photos. Not only A4, and multiple images on A4, but also exactly what you want. 6 x 4 prints using 6 x 4 paper either borderless or with borders.

Highly recommended, if you have it, or can get it.

157185 2003-07-03 19:57:00 Good morning - yes, I have software that came with the printer, but not "Easy-PhotoPrint". Perhaps it wouldn't work with my machine? Any idea where I could get it?

Many thanks

157186 2003-07-03 20:01:00 Good morning - I have tried Photoshop, had a look at Publisher, but couldn't get past the A4 layout/size, also Microsoft Photo Editor. I had a go at changing margins, but fiddled for a long time - ended up wasting quite a bit of expensive paper. :(

Cheers

157187 2003-07-03 20:40:00 Use cheap paper and print black & white until you get it printing how you want. Then change the paper and colour. wotz (335)
157188 2003-07-03 21:56:00 Hi R.M. The Easy-PhotoPrint is a Canon product. It was supplied with my Canon i320 printer.

Possibly your dealer, or Canon could supply it for you.

157189 2003-07-03 21:58:00 Are you saying that when in Photoshop you don't have the option of chossing 6 x 4 paper? If so your printer driver can't be installed properly.

Photoshop is pretty good for printing 6 x 4s - assuming you've first used the printer driver software (Canon's in my experience is pretty good) to set options like borderless printing.

The I use the "print options" menu in Photoshop (under the "File" menu).

In print options you can set the scaling for the pic, and use the "postion" controls to adjust the postion of the image on the paper. Since most digicam pic sizes do not actually match 6 x 4, this is invaluable in postioning the image just right so that you get the stuff you want (rather than have it just centre the image on the paper and potential cut off stuff you want).
