157162 2003-07-03 05:33:00 While i was trying to erase a cdrw using nero it says power collaboration and it won't delete the stuff inside? What does power collaboration mean? yingxuan (3330)
157163 2003-07-03 05:59:00 Power calibration error? Sounds like a problem I had a while back. What kind of CD writer are you using?

I think my problem was a dying CD writer.

Lo.

157164 2003-07-03 06:41:00 Power Calibration Error can refer to the CDRW not being compatable with the writer. I get that using some old 1x CDRW, the new CD writer will not go that slow. godfather (25)
157165 2003-07-04 02:07:00 Mines an acer 4x4x6x writer and it came with the 4x cdrw acer.
It worked for about 20 times then i got that error.understand why?

157166 2003-07-04 02:30:00 At the beginning of the writing process the drive will perform a test to determine the optimal Laser power for the CDR media.

When the drive is not able to determine the power a "power calibration error" will be shown.

Most times the problem relates to poor quality CDR / CDRW media
It can in some cases be a problem with the drive, but not usually.

CDRW media can be tricky at the best of times, its usually much easier to use good quality CDR.

Before you blame other things, try another CDRW disk.

Apparently the average number of uses for a CD-RW is only 17. As GF said, try another RW.

If you buy new be careful. If it says 8-12x then it won't work in a 4x drive.

Sure, but I have several here that never made it past even 10 uses, they now give a "power calibration" error. The odd one still works at 1x speed in an older slower burner however.

There are exceptions in everything. There is just a few more in CDRW media, its not the most reliable medium to read and write.

CDR is a lot more reliable in my opinion.
