157659 2003-07-05 06:37:00 Hi there, my sis has just been to Farmers and bought a new PC Comp puter which went well in the shop, but now at home it won't start up...just emits a beep every 10 seconds or so. No CD or floppy in it, and all plugs etc are fine...any ideas?? Cheers. amazon (3976)
157660 2003-07-05 06:45:00 not even worth the effort of trying to find out what the beeps relate to (probably video)

since its brand spankers, take it straight back to farmers.

157661 2003-07-05 10:02:00 Yup.. just take it back. They can't sell you something which breaks down as soon as you get it home, unless you happened to have damaged it in transit. somebody (208)
157662 2003-07-05 10:36:00 exactly the same thing happened 2 my mate..
but wouldnt say that to the sounds as hes deaf like me...
farmers delivered it as we had no car...
came home to his place...plugged it in...and turned it on..and nothing came up...
so took it straight back, refunded money, went to noel leemings, got a computer, came home..plugged it in...away he went, he was on the net within 10 mins of getting home...

so maybe farmers computers are faulty?

157663 2003-07-05 10:37:00 Does any thing show up on the screen? Did you turn the screen on? jamesjiao (2163)
157664 2003-07-05 12:37:00 It reminds me of another computer I saw.

NOT a PC Company one. It was shipped to my friends place but on arriving he plugged everything into the right ports.

I checked this and advised him to send it back and get a replacement as it would be under warranty. No beeps.... No nothing...

I said that *I* didn't want to open the case and check as the warranty may have been voided. He asked me to do it anyway.

I opened the case and found that the Slot 1 Pentium CPU wasn't in the slot and was just rattling around inside. No retainer clips had been fitted.

My advice.

SEND IT BACK!!!!!

157666 2003-07-06 03:13:00 Hi there guys...Farmers failed to include an adaptor of some sort which connects the monitor to the puter...goes well now...yes, I agree 100% regarding computers from Farmers, but I spose it's her money..was cheap tho, 2.3ghz, 512 ram, 60g HDD, 17" flat screen monitor, some expensive video card thingy, and a pile of free CD games, $1800 cash price. Well at least it's goin! Thanks for the input guys.. amazon (3976)
