157401 2003-07-04 05:49:00 I have saved my .dbx files on my new PC but cannot find any way to be able to open/view/print them. Past messages suggest that others have achieved this - could someone give me some advice please ?

TIA

157402 2003-07-04 06:21:00 Why View them? Why not in XP, open your Outlook express and go file-import-messages (then point it to the place you have your saved dbx files) , to get them into your new mail program. Pheonix (280)
157403 2003-07-04 08:26:00 When I try to Import I get the message -

"No messages are found in this folder or another application is running that has the required files open. Please select another folder or try closing applications that may have files open."

I have copied the .dbx files onto my new hard drive and they appear there when I view in Windows Explorer.

Any ideas I could try please ?

157404 2003-07-04 09:22:00 You can extract the messages from the .dbx folders using DBXtract available from here (www.oehelp.com). It is very easy to use but make sure you read the instructions thoroughly first. Susan B (19)
157405 2003-07-04 10:49:00 Hi Susan

Thanks so much for going to the trouble of replying - I have extracted the emails I wanted to keep. They are not in any kind of order of course but at least now if I need something I can search through them.

I have saved the little programme - after all the time I have spent trying to come up with a solution I think it is great.

Thanks again -

Just a tip, if you click on the subject or Received or one of the other column you can line up your e-mail by that column eg by the date they where received etc...

Hope this helps
