157380 2003-07-04 05:28:00 Inspired by my outstanding success (well it was, wasn't it?? :p) with last week's WFTWE I have managed to kick down my kakorrhaphiophobia sufficiently to offer a mind twister this time rather than a tongue twister so this week's word is:

Ramfeezled: worn out, exhausted. (adj.)

OK, 'fess up. How many of you were expecting ramfeezled to be either a PC with sick RAM or one loaded up with an insane amount of memory sticks?? :D

It ought to mean one of the above I reckon, rather than a good description of my current state of mind after trawling the internet all week looking for good WFTWEs. Don't know where I would be if dear Billy had not kindly supplied me with a choice of his.... err.... favourite sources :8} - he thinks of everything. :x

"BTW I am pleased to say that Billy should be back in business by next Friday
though right now I am picking that the poor old thing is feeling
VERY ramfeezled himself." ;-)

157381 2003-07-04 06:00:00 I like it .

There is a good quiz on the web . It says . . .

The Burnsian word "ramfeezled" means:

(a) completely worn out
(b) loved by a sheep
(c) inadvertently smashed with a snowplow .

Which?

At least we don't have to guess now . Not sure which of (b) or (c) would be the most dangerous?

That is a very good word for the end of the week :D - sums things up quite nicely!

Not quite sure why Worzel Gummidge comes to mind when I say Ramfeezled ....

Yes, I wholeheartedly agree. Billy will be proud of you for the continuation of his high standard.

WFTWE is an enjoyable lighthearted end to the week after all the unpaid help given to those with computer problems by you and the other experts.

I'm sure it must help lighten the load a little when you are Ramfeezled after some of the busier weeks.

Cheers :)

157386 2003-07-05 00:02:00 Thank you, people . :-)

It would be hard to choose but I am picking that there would be a higher risk than normal of (c) happening down our way today, don't you think? ;-)

Brrrrrrrrrr!!!

That crossed my mind also, but since this is supposed to be a family forum I thought I had better refrain from mentioning that . :D

157387 2003-07-05 03:32:00 And anyway, gumboots are too damn cold in this weather .

(I mistyped a transposition of a and e there, deleted the a, moved the cursor, looked :O , nearly posted ;\, then thought "family forum" ]:), and refrained . Subtlety will always win . )

157388 2003-07-06 02:02:00 Ah Susan . . . . . . . . .

You have chosen the perfect word for the occasion .

Florida sounds a nice destination until you try to get flights to LA! If you take the shortest route you have long stopovers, but if you go for short stopovers you get longer flying time . I ended up with NZ-LA-Detroit-West Palm Beach

Anyway, after 35 hours in transit I finally arrived to find a dead monitor :( that was beyond my ministrations :O and the bag with all my critical paperwork was missing somewhere between Palm City and New Zealand .
I wuz ramfeezled beyond belief . :p
Now to catch up on my backlog of work . I shall be but an occasional visitor to PF1 for a while I'm afraid .

Cheers

[b][pre]Oh yes, and the bag finally turned up OK thanks :)
