| 157855 | 2003-07-06 09:06:00 | What's going on? On checking my address book I found some strange names and e-mail addresses - 18 in all, and grouped in pairs. Also the Contacts List had disappeared. I have put that back, and deleted the names not belonging in my address book, but made a list of them first. However, a bit later when I went to empty the trash bin I checked to see if I wanted all to be deleted, and to my surprise the rogue names I had deleted were not there. I checked the other bin, on the desk top, and they were not there either. Q. Where would they be? I have since gone through e-mail still in my in-box and tracked down 2 of the names that appeared with others on a very good fun e-mail that had been forwarded to me. It wasn't an attachment - just a straight e-mail. I have e-mailed the people concerned, and have run a complete check with Norton System Works. All appears to be OK and I am not having any computer problems at the moment. |

| 157856 | 2003-07-06 09:25:00 | There is an option in OE that by default puts any email address you reply to into your address book. It can be found under Tools > Options > Send. Make sure there is no tick beside it. It is possible that you "replied to all" instead of forwarding on one of those "fun emails" which then added the addresses to your adress book. Regarding the trash bin, only deleted emails and not email contacts from the address book go there. Deleted contacts get deleted straight off the system and by-pass the recycle bin as well. |
