| 158176 | 2003-07-08 02:22:00 | Hi there, I had to completely restore my computer, it came with Internet Explorer 5 . 00 When I went to install Internet Explorer 6 I keep getting this message . "A PREVIOUS INSTALLATION HAS PENDING WORK REQUIRING A REBOOT, YOU NEED TO RESTART YOUR COMPUTER TO COMPLETE THAT INSTALLATION BEFORE RUNNING EXPLORER SETUP, SETUP WILL NOW CLOSE . " Rebooting did no good, can anyone help me please . Wayne |

| 158179 | 2003-07-08 04:18:00 | Exactly the same thing happened to me on the weekend. The steps I took to fix it were 1. Clean out the internet cache (not sure if this helped or not). I used evidence eliminator. 2. Install the 5.5 and 5.5 service pack 3. Install IE 6 For some reason you can't get to IE 6 without loading the 5.5 service pack first. I had ME so it restored me to 5.5 not 5, but the same principle no doubt applies. |

| 158183 | 2003-07-09 00:13:00 | This was recommended by another discussion group for Win95, but should work for Win98 . Click on Start and Run. Type regedit and click OK. Browse to the following location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\ Control\Session Manager Look for an entry called PendingFileRenameOperations Delete this if found. |
