159005 2003-07-11 14:47:00 Hi there! I'm very interested in doing some 'offsite back up copies' of some videos I've got. Oh alright! I have all eighty episodes of STTOS on VHS and I'd like to get them on to CD!! There, I've admitted it! Happy?
Now from the research I've done, it appears I can get almost DVD quality using DivX if I put each episode (55 mins) per CD! Does that sound right?
Hints on programs to use, in fact, any help would be very much appreciated!
BTW, all the tapes are mine, "Lagit, govener, honist!" so no legal reason why I shouldn't do this, a?

Regards! :D

159006 2003-07-11 23:31:00 Capture the video and audio onto the PC.
What capture hardware do you have for video?
I use my GF4 MX460 Video in, plus the software supplied with it.
Audio is captured via the on-board audio chipset.

Then just drag and drop into Nero, which manages the whole process.

159008 2003-10-07 05:28:00 Video capture to be done using Belkins "USB2 to DVD" converter cables. A small bit of powerfull voodoo that just plugs into your USB2 socket on your computer and RCA outputs/SVideo on on your VHS.
Haven't had a chance to play with it yet, but have heard rave reviews.
