| 158724 | 2003-07-10 12:18:00 | often at night i have my computer defrag c:/ and i just let it set there and defrag now in the morning all tired looking forward to a "faster" loading computer i find that when i move the mouse it does not come out of "sleeping" my power scheme is Always On - screensaver set to blank screen 15 mins then turn off moniter 20 mins win 98 se, it often just locks up like that anyway..help |

| 158725 | 2003-07-10 18:45:00 | Power saving can turn off hard disks as well as the monitor, so this could be the problem. Go to Start|Control Panel|Power Options and see if it turns off the hard disk as well as the monitor. I recommend a program called PowerDefrag which boots your machine in a quasi safe mode, performs the defrag then reboots back to your normal environment. Click here (http://www.powerdefrag.com/) and select the download menu then scroll down and you will see about older versions of the product which is freeware. I use this on an old laptop running W98. hth |
