I have added extra spaces in the url after the so that you can see the raw formatting. Link (example [u r l=http://www.pcworld.co.nz]PC World[/ u rl ] it will be linked like this PC World) You can also write a URL in full and it will be automatically linked. (example: [url]http://pcworld.co.nz will be linked like ths http://pcworld.co.nz) Note1: In both bases you must include the or ftp: (if linking to a FTP site) Note2: Using the first method, [url=], will preserve long URLs. PressF1 will force-break words or URLs more than 80 characters in length to preserve the width of the page. Using [url=] prevents long URLs being broken. |

If you want a step by step instruction the following may assist also: To post a link to a web address, that will open the address by clicking on a word (or words) of your choosing, here are the steps to take: Note: I will use double spacing in the examples . You will need to use single spacing . If I use single spacing it tries to make parts of my explanation into a link . 1 . Type [ u r l = 2 . Type the web address, making sure that it starts with h t t p : / / 3 . Close the address with a ] 4 . Type your chosen word or words . eg Click Here or similar . 5 . Close off the whole line with [ / u r l ] Cheers :) |

[u rl=http://pressf1.pcworld.co.nz/forum.jsp?forum=1] WRITE WHAT YOU LIKE HERE [/u rl] = WRITE WHAT YOU LIKE HERE (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) Just remove the extra space I have put in between the u and rl so that the forum doesn't automatically convert it to a link. |

Yes, but after you have typed HERE, don't forget to add the final [/url] which closes off the whole line. Study Jen's last posting and you will see what is required. Two further points, are you aware that by right clicking on one of those purple links and choosing properties, you can see the full web address without actually opening the link? Try it on the one Jen provided. Also, if you want to practise making one of those links, just click on reply, try making the link in the message box, then click on preview (at the foot of the message box) instead of on post message. You can then click on the link you have just tried to make to see if it works. If it does, and you are just practising, exit the page the link took you to, go back to the preview box and click on cancel instead of posting. (It is a good idea to test your link like that when you are making a real posting too.) Hope that helps further. |
