| 159113 | 2003-07-12 12:09:00 | Gidday, today, out of the blue my monitor turned off and the hardrive was still running - since then my whole system has rebooted a few times by itself. I thought it might be power surges but I do have a surge protector. there does seem to be a sort of static electricity spark noise before it reboots?? any ideas appreciated cheers Nathan ps. system: win 98 SE, P2-350 |

That's the first thing that comes to mind... see www.grisoft.com for AVG Free Edition, or http: for a free online-based Virus Scan :-) Im sure other's will have other suggestions too. Can I ask what else is running in the background? It may be a good idea to check for Spyware, and stop un-neccesary things from loading by typing msconfig into the Run box in your start menu :-) Cheers Chill. |

Recently had a case where someone had two power cuts and even though they had a surge protector it still fried the MB. These days with the price of an UPS it is worth going with them. | mikebartnz (21) | ||
