| 159665 | 2003-07-14 10:08:00 | Had a new HDD installed today in my 5 year old hp pavilion. I had a 3.8 gig drive and am now supposed to have 40gig. When i go to C drive properties it tells me I only have 3.8 gig. I know the company wouldnt shag me around but does anyone know why this would be? Is it a compatibilty prob or a driver fault or what? Running win98 |

Also head along to hewlett packard website and download the latest bios version for your model number. Make sure you have the right download, and use a brand new floppy disk. Be careful! :) |

| 159667 | 2003-07-14 10:20:00 | check if the drive is reconised in the bios. if ok i suspect they "ghosted" the old drive over to the new one and didn't partiton/format the remaining space on the drive. | tweak'e (174) | ||
| 159668 | 2003-07-14 10:21:00 | What OS? How did you install the new drive? Ghost across and make it the only drive? Re-Install? Made it a secondary? It could be the space isnt partitioned yet.... you may need to use FDisk from a Windows Boot Disk, or for 2K/XP right-click on My Computer and choose Manage Click on Disk Management Services or something similar and create a partition in there :-) Cheers Chill. |
