| 159479 | 2003-07-14 03:24:00 | I just recently upped the memory on 5 acer p233 mmx laptops running win 98 from 32 to 64 megs and in one case to 96 megs. Very little difference noted between 96 and 64 megs. But they were all much happier running 64 megs instead of 32, especially with win 98. Not appreciably faster for the limited applications these laptops use but far smoother and better multitasking. They used edo ram which was going to be an exorbitant price new but luckily my supplier had a small stock of toshiba laptop ram second hand that was compatible and let me have it for 120 bucks. | the highlander (245) | ||
| 159480 | 2003-07-14 05:31:00 | You can save a heap of RAM by selecting "Classic Explorer" under View. Also if you run X-Setup from www.xteq.com you can disable alot of Active Desktop functions and save even more. I had 128 MB and this saved 64MB of RAM. A snappy system. |
