Try disabling IRQ sharing (Device Manager > System Devices > PCI Bus > IRQ Steering and uncheck 'Use IRQ Steering' ). After re-booting, you will probably have an exclamation mark on 'Creative SB16 emulation' (in Device Manager); if you don't use dos mode sound, you can remove 'SB16 emulation' | wuppo (41) | ||

| 159504 | 2003-07-14 00:38:00 | with the sb16 emulation simply select "use lpt interupt". you will proberly find you can reenable the irq shareing. reboot then check DMA is enabled for the hardrives etc. | tweak'e (174) | ||

| 159508 | 2003-07-17 02:28:00 | Was actually a cop out Susan. We have 3 PCs here and that one was pre loaded with Win 98 se we bought one later and it had Win ME on it So instead of mucking around with 98 i formatted and loaded ME on to it and ....hey Presto ....no more problems . Windows ME has been as stable on the other PC as Windows 98 se so it should be ok I hope i haven't broken any rules |

Also had to make sure the sound card was in an UNSHARED PCI slot (usually slot 3 is an unshared one) don't know why your problem wasn't fixed with the later drivers. |
