I see on the WINAMP.COM that Winamp 3.00 was apparently released 12.16.2002 and Nullsoft Winamp 2.91 was released 4.17.2003 if that is what the dates on those pages are referring to. So is version 2.91 more recent than version 3.00?? Are they improving what was 2.82 and at the same time commencing to develop a version 3.00 -why? Warren mentioned Winamp 2.8 as better than 3.0 -I can't find version 2.81 -is the 2.91 just as good as 2.8? I take it that 2.91 *will* be better than version 3.00-why? Can someone direct me to a very good quality speech mp3 file as I want to compare a mp3 teleconference mp3 file with it as I think the quality of the file sent to me may be poor. -- Thank you, learner |

| 159535 | 2003-07-15 00:36:00 | the 3 series is a complete rewrite of winamp. unforunatly it also makes it more bloated. it dos have a new features etc but a lot of people still like the old 2.X series exspecially as there is a huge amount of plugins advialable for it. they are still improving the 2.x series hence why 2.91 is newer than ver 3. |

But I agree it is a whole lot more bloated! They just released 2.90 a month or two back adding Video Playback to 2.xx, and 2.91 came out shortly after :-) Dunno what they're going to do 5 releases from now.. 2.95, 2.96, 2.97, 2.98, 2.99 and then what? Certainly not 3.xx ;-) |
