| 1318137 | 2012-12-13 20:32:00 | Impressive: Fonterra openly admits it is a way to increase milk sales. Seems like a Win-Win deal: School children get a free nutritious drink and Fonterra's profits go up. Not bad. Except for those allergic to milk... I wonder what other companies could do a similar deal with schools? |

| 1318140 | 2012-12-13 21:00:00 | I would like to have heard about the result of the trial they ran up north some where. Was the milk delivered cold? Was it cold when the children got it? What proportion of the children drank it? How much did it cost? Who is paying for it? And how the hell can Fonterra afford to give every child in NZ a drink a day and with the delivery costs? But I do think children drinking milk is a good thing. But make it flavoured (non sweetened) so they will drink it. I used to love the free milk when I went to school, as long as it was cold. |

Adding to that is it green top, since that's what school age kids are meant to be having. |

What proportion of the children drank it? How much did it cost? Who is paying for it? . You don't watch Campbell Live then, he's been running ongoing reports for ages. To do with the whole poor kids who don't get proper lunches, not just Fonterra. Yes milk was cold. Yes, they kept in in ice boxes. All of them to start with, then a lot of them decided they didn't like it. It was long life milk..... No idea what it cost. Fonterra paid. Hey, you know how much they make? They can afford it. There was another school - or schools doing this too, theirs was funded by a Kids organisation. They liked it more (was Wellington I think). I did think maybe Fonterra should contribute cheese instead. It's all about those that don't get to eat properly. Cheese sandwiches perhaps? Granddaughter drank gallons of the stuff up until she was about 3 1/2. Now she likes milo added to it. Which is OK, I allow that. She loves cheese, so I let her have that too...more calcium. She's pretty balanced really, her new thing is tinned salmon, must have salmon sammies. And strawberries when she is here. It's healthy so why not. |
