159925 2003-07-15 08:16:00 I installed a new modem today and all went well. Found as a result , in the tray an icon that says:

safely remove hardware

There is no right mouse click resulting dialogue box on this icon , and I'm told it was put there by XP rather than the modem setup.

I want to keep the modem but throw out the icon. I know i can permanently hide it, - junking the icon would be better!

Ideas please.

Thanks

159926 2003-07-16 00:20:00 Is that icon still in your tasktray even after a reboot? It normally disappears after the computer is restarted. Susan B (19)
159927 2003-07-16 00:26:00 You can also Right-Click on your TaskBar and choose Properties
Click on Customize (Down the bottom)
Find the Icon and choose "Always Hide"

Its a temp. solution if it comes back after a reboot, but as Susan said, it shouldnt :-)
