160175 2003-07-16 00:56:00 Can anyone help with either a driver for the motherboard for this machine circa 1997 or a copy of a setup cd / disk ? Will cover associated costs. Even a driver for the PCI Bus would do. Could probably overcome this with win98 or some such ..... but as the owner is retired and has no funds they are unable to add the extra ram needed to cover going up to 98.Specs: Digital PC 3100, Pentium 2 233 MMX .... have tried many sites with no luck, so even a suggestion as to a download would be appreciated, regards Louis/ vfr750 (4239)
160176 2003-07-16 01:35:00 Going to Google with

Digital PC3100 series drivers

as the search string

Gave this link (h18000.www1.hp.com) as the first hit.

Compaq bought Digital before HP bought Compaq, so the support is now on the HP site.

Not sure if you have seen these downloads, or if they meet you needs?

160177 2003-07-16 01:36:00 Sorry, leave the "series" out of the search string... godfather (25)
160178 2003-07-16 03:40:00 Thanks for the help. Yeah have seen them, was aware of the transition from Digital to Compaq to Hewlett Packedup but thanks for taking the time anyway :) vfr750 (4239)
160179 2003-07-16 03:51:00 Should have added to my original posting that it is running win95 not nt4. vfr750 (4239)
160180 2003-07-16 03:58:00 What is the problem that needs a motherboard driver? Graham L (2)
160181 2003-07-16 05:20:00 Hi, The machine has just been re-assembled to help this old timer out.So I had the case with the motherboard, but of course I had no mobo install cd. It boots fine etc, but it still shows the pci bridge with the yellow exclaimation mark beside it under device manager in win95. As such it will not find the added sound card, network card etc. vfr750 (4239)
160182 2003-07-16 05:27:00 Down towards the bottom of that page there's a driver PIIX4 which is for W95. That might help? The 3c509 is a network one, but that's probably for an onboard (optional) one. The PC3000s I've got don't have the sound and netwrok areas of the MB populated. Odd that they'd use 3c509 rather than their own chip. Graham L (2)
160183 2003-07-16 10:10:00 Thanks Graham, had missed that file, guess this is what happens when im asking questions whilst at work lol. Still hasnt fixed the error however, so I am still on the hunt if anyone can shed some light on this, cheers Louis ;o) vfr750 (4239)
160184 2003-07-17 06:35:00 I've just had another look ... it seems it's the same model as mine, but with a faster CPU. Using "PC 3100 5166" as the search string the first link told me that yours is a Celebris FX-2. Using that finds some "different" pages ... you never know. I'm wondering what these "recovery" diskettes do. :D Graham L (2)
