160348 2003-07-16 08:59:00 Hi Team

I stumbled on this site while looking for other information but I was so impressed that I thought it might make a useful resource for PF1'ers competent to attempt simple appliance fault diagnosis or repairs. It starts with some basic electrical principles and develops steadily from there.

How to repair appliances (www.repairfaq.org)

The writer is very professional, and after many years in the electrical electronics industry, there is very little I would take issue with, apart from the occasional bit of American enthusiasm or jargon.

If you do decide to use any this advice, take heed of the safety instructions.

Cheers

Not sure that I would like to print all that out though!

160350 2003-07-16 10:13:00 Gosh Billy, thanks for that. You could spend all day browsing over the stuff on that page. :D

Pity it didn't have any pics to enhance the page and demonstrate some things but never mind. I think I'll save the whole page to my hard drive for reference - never know when it might come in handy. ;-)

Thanks, BT. Should prove very useful. Hmmm, contents sound very much like one of your pratical and very useful replies to some technical question.

160352 2003-07-16 10:31:00 It does have some diagrams team, but they are to explain electrical and testing issues only, the range of appliances is too diverse to allow for how-to diagrams unfortunately.

And Kiwitas: it is indexed!

Cheers

160356 2003-07-19 23:21:00 Aha, your secrets out Billy. I know what the T stands for - as in Billy T. Your last names obviously Taylor.

As in Tim "The Toolman" Taylor, the legendary Mr Fixit

160357 2003-07-20 01:32:00 Do me a favour Baldy:O

I do a bit of HHM work, and it takes a power of persuasion for Mrs T to get me out of the tool section of the hardware store, but I'm not in Tim the Toolman's league for botch-ups and bungles. :8}

You will have to think of another name.:D

Cheers
