Education or learning late in life, an Opsimath .

Being an Opsimath does not automatically imply that you are in or approaching your dotage of course, in fact it rather indicates the opposite . PF1 has its quota of confirmed Opsimaths, senior members who embrace new technology with unbridled enthusiasm .

Muses, I wonder how many of the opsimathic persuasion could give the younger generations a run for their money?:|

Cheers

[pre][b]Mrs T reckons I am fast approaching opsimathdom:O
Trouble is, I don't know if she is figuring that on
age, pursuit of learning, or increasing hair loss .

160731 2003-07-18 06:05:00 That sounds like a bit of me . The only problem is that what I learn today, I forget tomorrow and by next week I have forgotten that I even learnt it last week . :D :D

160732 2003-07-18 06:15:00 now thats a good one BT..... dont think ive got that far yet?

and at what approximate age does this opsimathy thing kick in Billy T ?

and will it be at jetsream pace cos i could do with some of that?

or will it just slow us down more and we need to check our seetings?

:p

and youre never to old to learn, im presuming the only time you stop learning as such is when we are dead and deserve the break dont ya think? ?:|

well done, must put this in my words to use list for uni, but they probably already know this.

and as to regards to age and what exLL said -

" That sounds like a bit of me. The only problem is that what I learn today, I forget tomorrow and by next week I have forgotten that I even learnt it last week. "
it seems that happens at all ages......... and beetles are prone to it, it seems..... LOL :D

Oh yes, and for beetle, opsimathy starts when you pass 30, or 40, or 50, or 60, or 70, or 80................Shucks, you are only as old as you feel.

160737 2003-07-18 10:17:00 For most of my life I was a Luddite, but then I bought a computer a couple of years ago. I much prefer Opsimath to " old bugger trying hard to keep up"! Shortstop (632)
160738 2003-07-18 12:18:00 I reakon it has an optimistic ring about it, a good word for Friday with the weekend (work for some) to look forward to .

I started latish 30's, not really opsimathic territory but I've moved on a little since then and the learning curve doesn't get any shallower .

Mrs T reckons I am fast approaching opsimathdom
Trouble is, I don't know if she is figuring that on
age, pursuit of learning, or increasing hair loss .

I don't seem to be moulting yet, but the financial controller reakons she detected a juvenile shiny spot on the back of my cranium, where I can't see it of course . Now dad definitely fits the criteria . He turns 80 in a week and got his first comp about 2 yrs ago, we're (the kid's) are getting him an LCD monitor so he can read text more easily and get some desk back (which is why I am so interested in dead and stuck pixels Billy) .
