| 160587 | 2003-07-18 02:45:00 | In china, ShangHai, the speed start at 512k. Download speed usually at 200K to 400K per sec. The price is only 20NZ$, and it is no limit at all! There have 3 different options, ADSL, TV Cable, Optical Fiber(some area not available), all have same price. I think NZ should improve the speed first and remove the limited of usege. | zkeasy (3278) | ||
| 160588 | 2003-07-18 03:11:00 | Im sure there have been enough hints dropped by now to _assume_ that something's gonna happen to the speed... When is the only thing that's not been "leaked" as such ;-) | Chilling_Silently (228) | ||

(i think it is the biggest post in the forum for this year) jacky |

Last night I had a telecom sales rep knock on my door offering a package consisting of Phone , sky & internet. I told him I would gladly go back to telecom if they raise the speed of jetstream to 256k & I also told him I had heard lots of rumours that this may happen soon. I like the internet speed & the Mrs likes the superior sky picture & menus. He is supposed to call in this evening to let me know whats going on. So I'm sitting here impatiently. Telstra came to our area which has about 400 odd houses last November & the uptake for their services was about 85% i'd guess & every bill we have had from them has been incorrect :( Cheers Steve |

| 160594 | 2003-08-01 11:01:00 | I've just signed up with Wired Country/ICONZ for their wireless broadband service. The hardware has been installed, now I've just got to get all the right network settings done so it'll work - unfortunately it's all very new to ICONZ and Wired Country don't have after hours tech support yet ... Anyway, I'm getting a 512K uncapped stream from ICONZ (using the Wired Country network) at a not unreasonable $110/mth incl GST. They do an uncapped 128K connection for $65/mth too. Let's hope it delivers what it promises ... I just might have to take a few hours off work on Monday to get this set up - living north of the Bombays and working in Cambridge makes getting things done tricky sometimes - until then I'm still on dodgy 56k dialup :( |

| 160596 | 2003-08-01 12:18:00 | yawn, poor people thinking things are gonna change over night. Don't hold your breath. yawn Isn't there sanctions in the asian countries that say that you must have broadband to households, hence why dialup is more expensive |
