| 161025 | 2003-07-19 04:00:00 | Before, whenever clicking 'open' for a photo attachment in a email, it used to open with Windows Photo and Fax Viewer . Now, after installing Macromedia Studio MX, any photos in emails that i want to open, automatically opens Fireworks MX, and this takes ages to load (compared to Windows Photo and Fax Viewer) . How do i change it so that it automatically opens with the Photo Viewer . Right clicking the attachment link only gives "open" option, no "open with . . . " thanks, caffy |

| 161028 | 2003-07-19 04:18:00 | This is getting interesting... I did a search for 'Windows Photo and Fax Viewer', and made sure that the search included searching ALL hard drive partitions (like WinXP, Win98 etc) to make sure i didnt miss anything, and the search came up empty. So, where IS Win Photo/Fax viewer?? If I open photos in my photos folder stored on my comp, it opens with Win Photo/Fax Viewer, so it MUST be somewhere still on my computer... BTW, i tried looking for settings in Fireworks MX, can't find it, so can't see if there's an option for using that program to open photos with... ?:| caffy |

It sounds like it's jumped to the front of the queue to make itself yr default opener. Have you tried right clicking the icon on the desktop or in yr system tray and getting into settings that way. | 161030 | 2003-07-19 04:37:00 | Don't have the icon on desktop, its only in Start > Programs . Is that the system tray? Ironically I used to know how/where to change the settings; so the application of your choice would open documents/photos (as I've had this problem before), but because I haven't needed to know this for ages, I've forgotten how :( |

| 161031 | 2003-07-19 04:48:00 | Ah ha, problem solved! (well, the original problem). I knew it was something simple: I went to my photos folder, and right clicked on a photo (any photo will do) and under "Open With..." i chose "Choose Program". In the window was a list of programs to use and Fireworks was selected. So i clicked on Win Photo/Fax Viewer" and chose "Always use this program for this type of file". Went back to my emails, and tried opening the photos, now it opens with Photo/Fax viewer. Still haven't solved my query about WHERE Photo/Fax Viewer actually is.... caffy :) |

Nope, the system tray (AKA the systray) is the little panel down on your taskbar at the far right, ususally shows the clock, the two-comps icon to indicate your connected to the net and whatever else you might have. NB It can be customised so yours might look different, but you can still see the outline of the panel/box. Sorry to not be more helpful with yr initial problem but that's cleared one thing up. Cheers m:)c |
