160965 2003-07-19 02:29:00 i have friends who want to borrow my cds...
so i wanna copy them incase they damage the cd...
would clonecd do the job??

160966 2003-07-19 02:50:00 Haha, nicely phrased... I think CloneCD has fallen behind recently, so would look at Alcohol 120%. The problem you will find also is that you will need to know the capabilities of your writer, along with what copy protection has been used on the particular disc you have 'borrowed'.

160967 2003-07-19 02:54:00 i know i probably have phased it nicely to cover my intentions to copy cds..
but its honest..i was just going to copy my cds and put the backups away...and then give the orginals to friends who want to borrow them..none of them have cd writers neway so they cant copy themselves..

the games specificied are...cricket 2002 and fifa 2001 and 2000

the capabilities of my writer,...how do i find that?....
and with the copy protection...i aint sure how to find this either...

160968 2003-07-19 03:26:00 Surf over to: Cd Freaks (club.cdfreaks.com d&forumid=59) to find all the answers you are looking for.

Game protection lists (www.petemoore.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk)

It looks like you will be copying about 3 Safedisk protected games.

160969 2003-07-19 03:36:00 so should i use alchol 120? or clonecd...
or wat?
and how long would the process take?

160970 2003-07-19 04:25:00 Definitely Alcohol 120%... CloneCD doesn't do too well with newer copy protections...

160972 2003-07-19 04:27:00 Well a few hours will be required for the learning curve. I know some say you should use Alcohol 120% but thats like $100nz. Are you sure you want to pay that much for it? I'm not sure if the trial versions allow you to make a full backup or not?

Also if you don't do it right, alcohol will make the cd play with emulation, meaning you'll always have to have alcohol installed or something similiar to play the backup.

Have you determined what type of burner you have? Ie how many sheep it does? Check out Supported writers (www.elby.ch). Find your writer in the right hand column, then select ure model. If it has 2sheep symbols in the correct EFM encoding then its a good writer.

Alcohol is more updated that CloneCd, so it sometimes beats the newer protections before ConeCd.

160973 2003-07-19 04:31:00 Trial version will let you do everything... Best you check out this (clone.cd) site learn about it... has absolutely everything you could and probably would ask...

Best of luck.
