161052 2003-07-19 05:12:00 I recently upgraded from Me to XP. I had open office while I had Me, and most of my documents I created in there. When I upgraded, I downloaded all my documents and found that I could not open them. I do not have Open Office on XP, and I can't find a site or disk that I can download it from. I have tried one site, but it said it would take a couple of hours. So I am searching for a disk or site that I can download Open Office from. Does anyone have any recommendations? I have also heard that a magazine gave away the download on one of its free disks. Does anyone happen to know the name of the magazine or the date it was published.
Thank you
Emma

161054 2003-07-19 06:21:00 If you go to www.openoffice.org you can download from one of the mirror sites (Australia being the closest). Its around a 50MB download, around 4 hours for a 56k modem (unless you are lucky and have a faster connection). Dolby Digital (160)

161056 2003-07-19 12:53:00 Dick Smith have a combined xtra connection cd / catalogue free of charge in all stores and they almost invariably have open office on that as well as other freeware apps. I always grab one when I'm in a Dick Smith since it saves a download/ burning a copy for someone else. Haven't looked at the latest version but worth a look. the highlander (245)
