| 161706 | 2003-07-21 03:17:00 | Hi all. Within 30 secs or so of logging onto mailwasher to check my mail the norton outgoing email virus checker pops up and says it is checking 2 e-mails. Trouble is i never have any mail in my out box needing to be sent. When i check my sent folder in O/E there is no record of any mail having been sent either. I posted this question a couple of weeks ago and following advice have run jv16,spybot, trojan remover and CM disccleaner:they all report nothing amiss. Apart from reformating :- does anyone have anything else i could try? Its driving me nuts! XP pro IE 6 norton 2002 Z/A all updated regularly. Is there a (hidden?) log somewhere where i could at least see where these mails are going? TIA Rick |

Check whats running at the time, in W98 you press Ctrl/Alt/Del once an all the loaded programs are shown, obviously XP is probably different, but someone will know. After that figure out what each is and switch them off one at a time till you get no auto e-mails. That may help isolate the source Another thought have you checked your firewall logs(on the presumption you are running a firewall). |
