161445 2003-07-20 05:13:00 I'm looking for a software package that can compare two folders and then synchronies them, and one that lets me save my settings, so next time I can just hit the SYNC button and away it goes.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Note: I'm after synchronization software NOT backup software, I simply want to mirror a folder at the touch of a button.

Cheers

161446 2003-07-20 10:12:00 I just ran a google search with "Compare and sync" as the search term.

Among others it gave me this link:-

http://www.compareandsync.com/

I hope this helps

161447 2003-07-20 22:22:00 I have been using SmartSync for a year or so to synchronise data between my desktop and laptop. Very successful automatic syncs - never found a fault with it.

You set up schedules that can be saved and run at set times, though you can also fire up a schedule and do it on demand. To do it on demand takes one click (once a schedule has been set up), in the sense that there is a shortcut control panel in your system tray - right click on it and select Copy source to destination, and away it goes.

I understand you can use SmartSync, which is a lite version, but only to sync between remote connections.

You need SmartSync Pro to do what you want (I think!), but you can check this out at:

161448 2003-07-21 06:29:00 Thanks for that, I will definatley have a look into it, sounds well suited to my purpose, or rather mum's, I brought her a USB flash drive so that she could back her documents, and also so she could take them to work, so a simple one click procedure is vital . (Especialy to thoes not so technically minded) .

Cheers
