I tried to get on to nzoom to get live scoring, but couldn't get on. Must have been too many parked there as you suggest. I kept up with the scoring on the radio, and then had to dump work and dash inside for the last few minutes. Awesome. Especially given that Temepara Clark was apparently sent off for part of the game. She got one of the biggest cheers from the crowd during the medal presentation - the other two biggest cheers went to Irene Van Dyk and Vilimaina Davu. Equally awesome was the stunned mullet look on the Ozzie team faces when they had to go up to get silver medals. Not what they are used to at all. Whilst they were less than gracious, they at least didn't spit the dummy like the Ferns did in that other heart breaking final, so I guess stunned mullet isn't too bad by comparison. |

| 161686 | 2003-07-21 10:52:00 | this would break ur hearts..but not only nzoom were doing live scoring..but netballnz were doing their own right from their website... i had it going along with watching it live...brilliant game but really annoyed me with the sending off for 2 passes..oh well other thing...have u noticed the years? last time nz won the netball champs was...1987.. and the last time we won the rugby world cup was.....yes 1987.. this better be a good sign :-D am also really glad that the whole stadium "almost" were behind the kiwis :-D |

So it is starting from scratch in preparing a welcome for the victorious Silver Ferns . The new world champions arrive home on Thursday morning at 10 past five, and netball officials say there will be a suitable, if bleary-eyed, reception . But Netball New Zealand marketing manager Jeanette Paine says they are also talking with sponsor Vodafone about some form of street parade . She says the planning is happening now because they have been taking one day at a time throughout the entire World Championship campaign . Helen Clark has paid tribute to the Silver Ferns, describing their victory as amazing . The Prime Minister says she has followed the national netball team for years, and is very pleased with today's World Championship win . She says Australia has always been a formidable opponent but today was New Zealand's day . Helen Clark says the government will organise a national welcome home if it is convenient for the Silver Ferns . |
