| 161648 | 2003-07-20 22:42:00 | Had a weird thing yesterday where I started up my XP Pro PC in the morning, after a normal shutdown the night before and got an error message about Explorer being unbale to run due to a missing file uxtheme.dll. Which effectively screwed the system since I had no desktop! Was solved easily enough by copying the file over from a second XP machine (just booted to command prompt and used a floppy - shame on PC manufacturers who claim the floppy is no longer useful!). Up to date with my Norton Anti-Virus and no viruses have been detected. Has anybody else had this oddity happen? |

Other than on occasions where it is my own doing though, where I've been switching the uxtheme.dll and used one which hasn't been haxed in the correct way or is for non-SP1 and I'm running SP1. That is a rather scary thing if it does happen regularly. You'd think it would be able to grab the back up from the dllcache itself and replace it. |

Annoying thing is I later discovered (after doing the search on the 2nd PC to locate the file) that a copy of it was sitting on my PC in the SP1 files directory the whole time. Would be nice if XP had a look in there before whinging about being unable to find the file. As bad as my 4-year old who whinges about not being able to find his slippers in the morning. Have you looked for them? No .... | Biggles (121) | ||
