| 161466 | 2003-07-20 06:35:00 | Using AVG with Win XP Home. AVG found a trojan horse virus and fixed it. Since then my system tells me several times a day that the virus is still there even although the latest AVG tests cannot find it. The message says is in: C:\SystemVolumeInformation\_restore{67914596-991B-481F-AOCC-21904A3C1E58}-\RP190\A0008146.exe Latest message now says it is a "Trojan Horse Dialler" How do I kill this message, or kill the virus if it is still there? | 161468 | 2003-07-20 06:43:00 | As the message says, its in your system restore file and therefore it will be a protected system file that cannot be accessed. Turn of system restore. Reboot. Turn on system restore. That will purge all system restore points and the file as well. This has happened as the system has created a restore point when the Trojan was installed. It now has a "copy" locked away. |

| 161469 | 2003-07-20 06:57:00 | Before you do anything update your AVG as I have a feeling its not up to date The virus is in your restore area, the only way I know of getting out of there is to disable system restore(which also deletes all your restore points, sorry), reboot and rescan with the virus checker just to be safe. Once you are happy you are clean you can enable system restore, you will need to reboot for this to take effect, then if you wish create a restore point (to be safe) also it may pay to check a folder called virus vault, that is where AVG puts virus's, don't worry it cant do anything from there that folder is a protected area that AVG creates.
