161463 2003-07-20 06:17:00 I have purchased an external 120 GB Cobra HDD for backups and for storage of graphics & music files for our small WinXP Pro P2P Network of 8 computers.

The 120 GB HDD has been partitioned into 5 partitions for easier indexing. At any rate, I have enabled disk sharing because obviously the point of getting it is for everyone on the network to be able to access it. It is connected to one of the computers via USB 2.0 port.
Problem. I can only access it from the local computer, but we cannot access the shared disk drive ( and I have created folders- which are shared - in each partition) from any of the other client computers.

So how do I get around this then? It keeps saying I do not have access permission but this has been allowed from host machine.

Would appreciate some help here please.

Try right-clicking on the shared folder, and modifying the Permissions for the share.

Also, make sure that your login on the Client machine, is also exactly the same on the Host machine, even if the user on the Host is not logged in!

161465 2003-07-22 09:32:00 All else on network is fine. Can only access shared folders & printers on all computers in workgroup. We also used a shared Ihug satellite connection. So the network is up and working but I cannot create a shared folder that is accessible on the Cobra HDD. I can create a shared folder but when we go to open it from other computers will not open.
