161398 2003-07-20 03:53:00 I have switched to incredimail, just to see what all the fuss is about.
It is a very nice, clean-looking program.
BUT - I was told the other day that it is more synonymous with Swiss Cheese than Outlook Express? (ie: Full of holes: security or otherwise).

What are people's opinions and/or recommendations.
(Please provide links to back up your claims where possible.)

161399 2003-07-20 05:53:00 Incredimail is nice and has some good features. However it is full of holes and also contains spyware (well the free one does not sure about the paid one). It also has a habbit of causing all kinds of lockups and crashes further on down the track.

Incredimail also do not support the free version (well they didn't in the past) so if you have any problems they don't want to hear from you and won't reply to any queries.

You can get lots of different stationary for OE and OE-express off the web.

161400 2003-07-20 06:05:00 These are some of the complaints about Incredimail from this site http://www . rayshaw . im . com . au/ these were included in a monthly newsletter he seds out . Judge for yourself but read carefully the last one .

“I installed IncrediMail then ran Adaware – it recognized over 29 items as Spyware .

“The program crashes on start-up, then loads on the second attempt, then crashes when I try to set up accounts, then crashes again . But when I tried to uninstall it the removal procedure left the spyware so the system was still ‘infected’ .

”If you did not have a previous system restore point (ME or XP) prior to installing IncrediMail, a clean reinstall of the operating system is the only way to totally remove it . I tried to manually clean the registry but gave up when I saw how much was messed up it was” .

“I started using Incredimail and within hours had a spam problem that I never had with Outlook Express and Yahoo .

“I could not analyse the data it sends to its creator, but it's far too much just for a short registration-check . Not even Microsoft is that curious”

“The EULA (End user license agreement) gave me the creeps when I finally read it . Has any user ever read it? It gives them the copyright on all material send or received by Incredimail . My wedding photos ended up on another site .

161401 2003-07-20 07:09:00 Jeez!
Thanks for that.
I think I will try to export my inbox and go back to OE!

161402 2003-07-20 07:25:00 Good luck exporting your inbox.

Incredimail won't do it. You can use the files and settings transfer but only useful to re-import back into Incredimail

161403 2003-07-20 07:58:00 Go back to this site http://www.rayshaw.im.com.au/ and click on tips and then How to remove Incredimail and read that it will tell you the best way of hopefully removing incredimail and reverting back to OE. Odin (227)
161404 2003-07-20 21:54:00 Gidday,

well I have used incredimail for some time now, and have never had a problem with it, I update it regularly, and have never struck spyware when running adware . It does have a small advert in the top right hand corner, until you buy it .

I have never had any security problems with it, but I wonder if someone could expand on this issue, as I'm concerned about these, thanks .

My antivirus system (avg) keeps an eye on e-mails coming and going .

It does need good computer resouces, to run properly though, and uninstalling it isn't all that clean, and it pays to do a search to get the rest of it .

good luck,

Robby

161405 2003-07-22 02:33:00 1. Lots of Spyware
2. If you emailing some companies their firewalls/Mailmarshal type programs are set to block it. See 3 below.
3. Very resource hungry.

DON'T USE IT

161407 2003-07-22 04:48:00 yeah my sister downloaded Incredimail, its a nice program, nice emoticons and stuff, but its a bummer to get rid of! i tried but its still here and now it seems to bring up windows in IE, www.search4all.com mostly but sumtimes just some annoying blank pages, but anywayz, yeah.... its a god program but OE is better! only thing is its hard to get OE working with MSN emailz!
