| 161890 | 2003-07-22 01:26:00 | Is it ok to hook up one PC to another using USB ports? We're looking to backup from one machine to another and one of them doesn't have a network card. Thnaks |

They're pretty slow too (slower than a slow network). I've never seen them for USB 2.0 either. It'd be cheaper to buy a new network card and some cable and transfer that way (and faster). Mike. |

I would not recommend it for regular data transfer though, just "one-offs". | Susan B (19) | ||
| 161894 | 2003-07-23 01:34:00 | Trouble is, Susan, that you need a special ("Laplink compatible") parallel cable. That wojuld cost close to the cost of a network card and a cable. :D | Graham L (2) | ||
| 161895 | 2003-07-23 03:06:00 | Ahh brings back the good old memories of using a Parallel cable and a wonder DOS based program called FX to transfer files and play Doom and Heretic. Back then using FX in windows and enabling the FX-link in the Win.ini file I got Turbo speed and was able to transfer 10 megs of data in about 35 minutes :D Oh the memories :D | Odin (227) | ||
