162016 2003-07-23 01:32:00 A common cause of problems with files in FTP is that a "binary" file is transferred in "Ascii" mode. I would guess that most FTP sites now default to forcing binary mode ... because the effects on MP3 files are audible. The effects on picture files will usually be visible. :D

The rule is" text files should be transferred in ascii mode. All others should be in binary.

It wasn't the cause here, apparently, but if I mention it now, it might stick in a few minds. ;-)
