161870 2003-07-22 03:16:00 Right then - Sorted.

I gave up on ICS, and downloaded analogX proxy -

www.analogx.com

It's free, it's simple, and took about 2 minutes to get my network all happily browsing the web. Yay!

Just so you know (& other who are reading this post) that Win XP ICS does work, because we are using it between 3 PC (Win XP Pro, Win ME & Win 2003 server (test) ) with DHCP & all the computers obtain there IP address automatically & with a internal ADSL modem.

& We have never had the above problem before.

I am having a guess here it might be a Win XP Home bug, who knows......

I know you said you have sorted out a solution but when you closed down ZoneAlarm, did you disable it and reboot? Sometimes it takes a reboot before it will "let go".

Also, as far as I am aware the free version of ZA does not support ICS. Someone will correct me if I am wrong though.

161873 2003-07-22 05:22:00 Thanks for your comment, Susan. Even though I'm using a proxy, it's bugging me, and I'd rather fix ICS still.

I guess I didn't actually reboot, but the fact that part of the header is being received, the page title comes in and pinging (websites) works throughout the network puts ZA out of the picture. If it was going to bloc the traffic, it would block it all, not just the HTML body of the page. (IMHO)

We're using ZA Pro, too.

I think you are(might be) wrong :D I think ZA free does supports ICS.

** Goes off & check what version of ZA he is running **
