161856 2003-07-21 23:43:00 Hi, I have 2 computer at home (Host WinXP, Client Win 98SE) networked together using TCP//IP protocol. I use the default (Win XP's) internet connection sharing. Everything works fine apart from the fact that there are a few websites that only my host can get to but not the client.

Now, I m not talking about dodgy sites, if that;s wat u r thinking ;P
Just general sites like "www.nzoom.com"

Is it some kind of protection/internet security thing??

How can I correct this problem??
thx!!

161857 2003-07-22 04:37:00 Someone else has just been having similar problems. Have a look at their post (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) to see if it may have info to help you. Susan B (19)
161858 2003-07-22 08:42:00 That particular persons problem is different to mine.
because he can't browse at all!! wheras I can browse most of the webpages.... just a few of them that I can't for some very strange reason!!

eg: www.nzoom.com

I also went to the networking guide thing that Craig wrote...and found nothing that would fix my problem : (

so, if u have any new ideas that would be much appreciated~~

btw, I don't think it's the browsers problem..because I tried both Opera and IE and they both have the same problem...

O, one more thing aside the topic...can someone tell me wat DHCP is?? I am guessing is a system that windows use to assign an IP to a computer when "obtain IP automatically was enabled??"

thanks!!!

What are your DNS Servers set to? Does the client ask the Server to resolve DNS entries? or does it go straight to the ISP's DNS Servers?
Does the client computer have a hosts file which may be blocking access to certain sites?
Does the client computer have a firewall enabled? if so disable it and then try.
Have you reset your internet settings? In IE click Tools > Internet Options > Advanced (tab) > Restore/Reset defaults
