I've always wondered that about the advertisement with the young woman in the rainy basement flat whose mother sends her a picture of the garden she grew up in. How many colour cartridges did she go through getting a picture the size of a small wall? :-)

162241 2003-07-27 04:20:00 I've seen an advertisment in a photography magazine for a third party addon for Epson Photo printers. It involves some plastic pipes going off to large ink containers. There's a pseudo EEPROM to avoid the "Ink Empty" error message. Professional photographers would need soemting like that. It's not so much the cost (chargeable to customers :D), it's th pain of repeatedly changing the cartridges, and having them run out half way through a picture.

I was reminded this morning of the first inkjet I ever bought. It had 300 ml ink cartridges. They lasted well. :D Now the damn things are 15-17 ml. And automatic headcleaning on powerup seems to cause about 3 pages of 5% text per cartridge. :D

Progress. :_|

And one gets the impression that the girl is financially struggling. :D

162244 2003-07-27 09:58:00 Let your imagination rip Chris!!!!!!
There are thousands of pictures out there in magazines etc.
I used to buy record company posters for a few dollars, then theres video shop posters, movie theatre mosters, car company posters, the poster of the old duck who is on the Bedpost advert. I could give you heaps more alternatives, but have spent the whole weekend thinking for my children LOL

162245 2003-07-28 01:35:00 Chris -

Just came back from town . Inspired by you wanting to fill up your bare walls (mine is the same), I went off to town in search of movie posters and All Blacks posters, and i got a haul of 10 posters, for free!

4 posters of All Blacks (the 2003 team!!), kindly given for free by the sports shops i visited .

And about 5 movie posters . 3 from Video Ezy were free (because they were old movies) . And the other 2 from Civic Video were $2 for both . The lady originally said $2 each, and so i got 2, and she said, "Don't worry, you can have them both for just $2" (for new movies) .

So, yeah just go to town, ask around at the shops . Most are happy to give out free ones, or cheapish ones . They need to get rid of the old posters . The movie theatres also have HEAPS when i asked them, but I couldn't think of any movie names to ask them, so they gave me a movie list, and I'll pick the ones i want from that .

cheers,

162246 2003-07-28 01:38:00 Another idea .

Get a calendar, with the photos in them . And rip those out, stick them up on your walls . Think along the lines of your fave tv prog, sports team, nature, cartoons etc

I did that before with my Simpsons calendar and Friends calendar, lots of different photos for each month . it brightened up my old room :)
