Download the ones which are found under the "Critical Updates and Service Packs" - these will include the security ones as they are classified as Critical. The ones listed under "Windows XP" are only the recommended updates and are not normally required. I have only ever once required one of the recommended updates as it was the fix to an issue I was experiencing. Have a look through them though, as there might be an update to a program that you use such as Windows MovieMaker 2, otherwise feel free to ignore them :) |

I leave it running or put it to sleep instead. The updates usually don't make the computer any slower but they do add/remove bugs. |

It is only one patch which does it, & because you are just unlucky that your system has slow down that does not mean that every one system is going to slow down when they install win XP SP1 or any fixes! Like I say you are just very unlucky that your system is slow & You do not know how many Big & small holes that you are leaving your self exposed to & it does not matter that you have a firewall or a AntiVirus progume because if some one what to get in to your computer they can send you a worm or some sort of viruses that can shut down those programmes & then they can hack your computer. |
