| 162652 | 2003-07-24 21:59:00 | Hi, I use a proxy to access the internet which blocks certain websites, and objectional material. This is to stop users from accessing such sites. It also requests a username and password so that user activity can be logged. As most users are honest, and also have next to no computer knowledge, the proxy is set up so that if it is turned of in IE, internet access is still granted without going through the proxy allowing admin to access the internet wiothout going through the filter simply by disabling the proxy in Tools->Internet Options->Connections->LAN Settings->Use a proxy. This is because the filter often filters pages based on a phrase contained in that page meaning legit pages are often filtered (Including many F1 threads). What I want to be able to do is have a shortcut on my desktop that runs a script that ticks and unticks that checkbox to save me navigating there each time I want to change it. Any ideas on how t odo it (I have no experience in writing scripts, but I do have rather extensive PC knowledge, so with the right guidance could do it myself). G P |

These two pages came up after a bit of looking about: www.winguides.com www.codeproject.com [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Internet Settings] Would be where the keys need changing. |

Will have a play with that code and see how I get on, any other replies still welcome. G P |

| 162656 | 2003-07-25 05:54:00 | In your registry, find this key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\ Internet Settings] ProxyEnable Select and export it (File-Export Registry File), when you've set the Internet Options to using the proxy server. Select and export the same key, when you've set the Internet Options not to use the proxy server. |

| 162657 | 2003-07-25 06:11:00 | PJ - No longer living in Papatoetoe, now in Totara Heights - moving up aye! But still working by Hunters Corner, so have to drive in every day. As you can tell by my location, I really don't like cities, but that is where the work is. Somebody - that is all good, but it does not affect the current Internet Explorer Window, so I will try that script instead. Cheers G P |
