2003-07-24 09:26:00 | I need to upgrade the RAM for my hp Pavilion 8903. It has 128mb already, anyone know what the maximum I can add is, and what sort of ram I should get? I would look in my manuals etc but I seem to have misplaced them for now.. Cheers..

2003-07-24 09:39:00 | From the HP Site: microprocessor 1.0GHz Intel® Celeron processor cache 128K advanced transfer cache memory 128MB 100MHz SDRAM memory slots 2 DIMM (total) 1 DIMM (available) 20.4GB Ultra DMA hard drive; *Includes the hidden hp pavilion Recovery Partition multimedia drive 48x CD-ROM max.speed diskette drive 3.5" (1.44 MB) communication ITU V.90 K56 flex modem, data/fax only (33.6Kbps send/download up to 56Kbps/14.4Kbps fax) video graphics Integrated Intel® Direct AGP 3D Graphics with up to 11MB of dynamic video memory sound Polk Audio® stereo speakers keyboard hp Internet command center; one-touch Internet keyboard mouse 2-button PS2 scrolling mouse expansion slots 3 PCI (total) 1 PCI (available) external ports 2 USB, 2 serial, 1 parallel, 1 game port (total) 2 USB, 2 serial, 1 parallel, 1 game port (available) drive bays external: (1) 3.5", (2) 5.25", internal (2) 3.5" (total) external: (1) 5.25", internal (1) 3.5" (available) Looks like common 100 or 133 MHz SD RAM (as sold by Dick Smith etc) *should* work. If its like others I have had experience with, it may be limited to 256 MB total (i.e. 1 stick of 128 MB additional)

2003-07-24 22:31:00 | I just spoke to someone about the problem I'm having with this. I just bought The Sims latest expansion pack. I tried to play it last nite, it would load etc but I wasn't able to play it very well. It would display the neighbourhood on screen even after I had entered a house to start playing, weird thing is I could also see my sim, the mailbox etc. I assumed that it might be a RAM problem, the expansion requires a minimum of 128MB to run it, but as I am already running another expansion pack this may have affected it. the guy i spoke to told me it might be the ram thing or graphics card thing but he felt that it might not be that so.. anyone who plays the sims come across this problem? does my hp pavilon 8903 have a graphics card?

Your graphics uses 11 MB of your available RAM, which will reduce the amount you have. It also suggests you do not have a slot (AGP) for a high performance graphics card. All the info is on the HP site. |

2003-07-25 05:55:00 | Cheers, I didn't know if that thing was a graphics card or not. So therefore my only choice is to add more RAM?

2003-07-25 06:00:00 | Yes, as I suggested try a 128 MB stick of 100 or 133 SDRAM. You could try a PCI graphics card but likely it would not give any advantage over what you have, if indeed it would work at all. (I have had an 8 series HP that would not accept a PCI graphics card at all).

2003-07-26 01:52:00 | Bought a new stick of RAM so now I have 256MB and I still have the same problem with the game. | Jayde (3070) | |
2003-07-26 03:43:00 | how old is your pc because you could put 256md RAM of 512 or 1024 which i think wont happen | Patrick 2003 (277) | |
