| 162515 | 2003-07-24 05:12:00 | Hi i am just wanting some help on picking a modem for Paradise cable , i'm really not sure about the difference between an asdl modem and a cable modem. Any advice would be great, brands you have tried etc! I would also be connecting 2-3 computers through the same connection at any time so if there is anything i need to know about this feel free to give some advice. Thanks Shannon |

| 162516 | 2003-07-24 05:29:00 | Paradise High Speed Starter* $59.95 per month + $17 per month for your Cable Modem rental 256kbps downstream / 128kbps upstream 10GB of international monthly traffic 20c per additional international MB 2c per additional national MB up to 6 email addresses access to paradise.net's helpdesk support, 24 hours, 7 days a week is this what you are getting? if so note + $17 per month for your Cable Modem rental you can not use an ADSL modem with cable, and i don't think you can get cable modems in new zealand. |

To do that you will need to set-up ICS (Internet connection sharing) But that depends on what type of modem you get etc . . & if you get a router . If you are unsure on How to set it up have a look at this thread . pcworld . co . nz/thread . jsp?forum=1&thread=21674" target="_blank">pressf1 . pcworld . co . nz they may be a bit about setting it out on in there, if not Just ask :) Hope this helps |

Just once again: the cable modem is supplied by Saturn/TelstraClear on a rental basis, you cannot buy one at the present time. The cable modem can have either USB connection or ethernet. Then you "just" network your computers together by installing network cards, the best way to go. |
